Foundation of Righteousness

Playlist - Foundation of righteousness

In the body of Christ today, many seek God’s power without prioritizing a relationship with Him. They desire miracles without aligning with His principles. This teaching emphasizes that true authority in God’s kingdom is rooted in righteousness, symbolized by the scepter, a representation of divine power and authority. Righteousness is foundational for a relationship with God and exercising His authority.

Righteousness and Authority

To exercise authority in God’s kingdom, believers must uphold righteousness. As Revelation 1:6 declares, we are made kings and priests unto God, and our power flows from maintaining righteousness. Righteousness is not earned by works but granted through the blood of Jesus, making us holy and blameless before God (Colossians 1:20-23). Upholding righteousness means obeying God’s will, as Jesus did.

Faith in Action: Abraham’s obedience was counted as righteousness (Genesis 15:6). Similarly, believers must do God’s works through faith, led by the Holy Spirit.

Compassion as an Expression of Righteousness

Righteousness involves living selflessly and showing compassion. Jesus exemplified this when He healed the leper, demonstrating care by touching the untouchable (Matthew 8:3). Christians are called to love their neighbors as themselves (Matthew 22:37-40) and show genuine concern for others, even those marginalized or difficult to love.

Lack of compassion hinders effective ministry and alienates others, as seen in the church’s strained relationship with certain communities. True love and humility, such as David’s response to Shimei’s insults (2 Samuel 16:5-12), are crucial for reflecting God’s heart.

Challenges and Opposition

Believers often face opposition when they pursue righteousness. The devil seeks to disrupt their spiritual authority by tempting them to sin. Vigilance and submission to God are essential, as James 4:7 teaches: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Case Study: Daniel’s Righteousness

Daniel exemplifies righteousness under pressure. Despite a decree forbidding prayer, Daniel remained faithful to God and was thrown into the lion’s den. His innocence before God and man secured divine protection (Daniel 6:22). Daniel’s unwavering righteousness led to God’s deliverance and a decree honoring God throughout the kingdom.

Conclusion

Righteousness is the foundation of authority in God’s kingdom. It requires love for God and others, obedience to His will, and humility. As seen in Daniel’s life, when believers uphold righteousness, they experience God’s faithfulness, protection, and power. Daily, we must carry the scepter of righteousness, walking in faith, love, and submission to God.
