The Process They Resist—Please Advise

May 1, 2025

Samuel James

“Speak a word over me,” they say.

But when I open my life and show the process—
The daily choices, the discipline, the silence, the waiting—
They look away.

I blog about it.
I teach what I’ve lived.
I invite them into the secret place of prayer.
But suddenly, it feels like too much.

Too much effort.
Too much depth.
Too much surrender.

Until they need something.

An answer.
A breakthrough.
A prayer.
Or ask me to create some time for them.

But the resources I pour out sit untouched.
The tools lie unused.
The invitation is unanswered.

So I’ve come to see this truth:

It’s not the teacher they resist—
It’s the process they refuse.
They want the fruit, not the planting.
The platform, not the path.
The power, not the preparation.

They want the result.
Not the journey.

Please advise—what else can we do, when we know this kind of growth doesn't come overnight?
